On 9/11, Americans awoke to the crushing reality that the U.S. was indeed not a "rock of invincibility," a facade
which crumbled miserably that tragic day. Unfortunately, that awakening morphed into a cockeyed fear which was used to usurp
God-given rights from all Americans in the name of the War on the Nation of Terror. And most Americans, Christians in
particular, seem either naive or complacent about their loss of rights once enjoyed by many, protected by the Constitution
and given by God.
It's perverse how most Americans and Christians, those who should be most vigilant in opposing this usurpation of rights,
practically embrace this action of their government led by George W. Bush, their new lord and savior, who has replaced
Christ. This new savior promises to save them from harm, a promise once reserved for Christ. Under their new savior,
Americans exchange liberty for security whereas with Christ security was granted through liberty. Alas,
Americans will learn in much affliction that exchanging liberty for security and the Savior for a perpetrator result in
neither liberty nor security, only judgment.
This edition of WORDS ARE WEAPONS explores not the facts of that tragic day of September 11, 2001, facts which
strongly suggest that 9/11 is more than what the government and major media have explained. No, this edition explores two
other instances among many in history when national tragedies were used by governments - even perpetrated by governments
- to bring about extreme social change under the suffering of many for the benefit of the few. The Great Fire of Rome under
Emperor Nero and The Reichstag Fire were two such tragedies.
