| August 9, 2005 Former Windsor teacher charged with statutory rape (Enfield-AP) A former Windsor High School teacher has been charged with statutory rape. John Williams of Glastonbury was charged yesterday in Enfield Superior Court with three counts of second-degree sexual assault, a felony. The Journal Inquirer of Manchester reports that he was released on a 100 thousand dollar bond. Court documents say the sexual assault charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on April 21st. No other details were made available. Superior Court Judge Howard Scheinblum sealed the affidavit that supported Williams' arrest. Williams was hired in 2003 to teach English and also was assistant coach for the school's boys baseball team. State officials said he resigned in July. If convicted, Williams could face up to 30 years in prison and a 30 thousand dollar fine.
