Two summer school students were stabbed during a fight this afternoon on the
grounds of Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, police said.

According to Montgomery County police, the incident began when two boys, aged 17
and 16, got into a verbal fight with a group of people inside the school, at 201 Valley
Brook Dr.

When the boys left the school building, they got into a physical fight with a group that
included both boys and girls, police said. Both were stabbed and have been
hospitalized.

The older student is in serious condition, and was in surgery late this afternoon, a
police spokesman said. The younger boy was not as seriously injured.

It was not immediately clear what the argument was about, or if the same people were
involved inside and outside the building.

The police are interviewing students to determine what happened.

[In a separate incident, four teenage boys were found stabbed at a Target store in
Wheaton. Police said three of the victims had life-threatening injuries and all were
being flown to hospitals.
