A former Clark County middle school teacher accused of abusing children is missing.
Sergeant Russell Shoemaker with the Metro Sexual Assault says they have been
looking for Mark Horton since July 15.

The former Garside Middle School teacher was arrested in June on charges of sexual
conduct between school employees and a pupil and the use of a minor in the
production of pornography.

Police say Horton was arrested after he set up a meeting to have sex with a student
before a school dance. Records show he used the Internet to chat with, and lure,
children into sexual relationships.

"Since that time, the grand jury indicted him on a multiple count warrant. He is
currently wanted on a warrant that was issued by the District Court, which goes 21
felony counts. His bail has been set at $480,000," says Sgt. Shoemaker.

Police now believe he is on the run or in hiding, "Since the warrant was issued we've
had no contact with Mr. Horton. We've attempted to locate him on several different
occasions without success. We don't know where he's at. We feel he is a continuing
threat to our community," says Sgt. Shoemaker.

Police say they don't know Horton's intentions. He has an upcoming court date and
may be planning to appear in court, but Metro says they would like to speak with him.

If you have any information on where Marc Horton might be you're asked to call 911 or
CrimeStoppers at 385-5555.
