GREENWOOD, Ark. A Greenwood junior high school teacher -- accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy -- has been arrested on a charge
of first-degree sexual assault. Thirty-seven-year-old Deanna Bobo posted a ten-thousand dollar bond and is to be arraigned in Sebastian
County Circuit Court. Greenwood school officials say Bobo is a special education teacher at Raymond E. Wells Junior High School and has
been on paid suspension since November 14th.
Police allege Bobo had sex with the student twice in February and March. The encounters allegedly took place off campus during nonschool
hours. Police taped a phone conversation between the student and Bobo in November, during which she denied having sex with the boy and
said she was his friend and was trying to help him.
Police say they became involved after the student's mother found nine e-mail messages between the boy and the teacher on a home computer.
Two of the messages made reference to sex between them. The student told police he had sex twice with the teacher.
