Student shot on University of Maryland campus by Meghan Mullan Staff Writer Aug. 3, 2005 A University of Maryland, College Park student was shot and wounded at about midnight Tuesday while walking near campus, a university police spokeswoman said. The male victim, 21, who lives on campus, used an emergency phone to contact the university police after turning to see "several black males" running away and feeling a "sharp pain in his leg," said Maj. Cathy Atwell. The student was walking on Leigh Road behind the Susquehanna Building, Atwell said. The suspects last were seen running toward on Mowatt Lane, she said. The student was taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center where he was treated and has been listed in good condition, Atwell said.
