| August 11, 2005 Ryle High School Teacher's Firing Upheld A Kentucky state tribunal has upheld the February firing of a Ryle High School teacher. Randy "Dennis" Cornett was accused in January of having a party at his house where teenagers were allegedly served alcohol. A criminal charge against him was dismissed on a technicality, but Cornett was fired by the district. Although Cornett appealed, a panel of three people from outside the district upheld the decision by Boone County Schools Superintendent Bryan Blavatt. "You don't like to be involved in firing or discharging someone, but in this case, these violations were so blatant and were so unreasonable and unfathomable, I'm pleased that this guy will not be back in our school district," said Blavatt. It's now up to state officials whether Cornett retains his teaching certificate. http://wwwwcpo.com/news/2005/local/08/12/upheld.html |
