| Teacher resigns in wake of peeping case Wednesday, October 26, 2005 By Mark Loyd Managing Editor Tuesday, October 25, 2005 4:16 PM CDT The Cinco Ranch High School teacher accused on peeping through a student's window has resigned. Katy ISD trustees accepted Timothy Williford's resignation during a regular meeting Monday. Williford, 31, had been a teacher in the Special Education department and an assistant football coach at the school for three years. Williford was arrested last week at his Sugar Land home and charged with public lewdness for allegedly looking through the window of a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Oct. 17. The victim, who reportedly was fully clothed at the time, told her parents she saw someone outside her window. Seeing the family cat in the yard near the window, the victim's father concluded the feline was what drew the girl's attention. A short time later, the victim returned to her parents' room and Williford was reportedly confronted by the victim's father in the front yard of the home. Asked what he was doing, Williford reportedly gave no response, climbed into his SUV and drove away. He reported to work later that morning, and the victim, not knowing the suspect worked at the school, attended classes. After his arrest, Katy ISD officials suspended Williford from his teaching and coaching duties, pending the outcome of the investigation. This is not Williford's first brush with the law. Records indicate Willowford was arrested on burglary charges in December 1994 in Gatesville, Texas. He was sentenced to deferred adjudication for the second-degree felony, a punishment similar to probation. It is not clear how Willowford came to be at the victim's house. The family had recently moved and the address where the incident took place had yet to be filed with Katy ISD. Williford has been charged with two counts of public lewdness, a Class A misdemeanor. Each count carries up to a year in county jail, and/or a fine not to exceed $2,000 and up to two years of community supervision. http://www.katytimes.com/articles/2005/10/25/news/01news.txt ------------- |
