HOUSTON A now-former elementary school teacher in Pasadena is going to prison after admitting he sexually assaulted a girl in his classroom.
A judge in Houston yesterday sentenced 31-year-old Melvin Matos of League City to 20 years behind bars, after the educator pleaded guilty.
Matos had faced two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child related to incidents in April.
Prosecutors say the teacher at Pasadena Pomeroy Elementary School performed oral sex on an eleven-year-old student, then had her perform
oral sex on him while in his classroom closet.
Matos resigned to avoid being fired.
