A hearing for Pamela Rogers was postponed Wednesday morning as attorneys attempt
to reach a plea agreement.

Sources told NewsChannel 5 that District Attorney Dale Potter has made Rogers an
offer, one that she initially rejected.

Rogers has been charged with 28 felony counts, including statutory rape, for allegedly
having a sexual relationship with a 13 year-old boy.

If she’s convicted, Rogers faces more than 20 years in prison. The alleged victim was
a student at Centertown High School in Warren County, and the 27-year-old Rogers
was his physical education teacher.

Sources told NewsChannel 5 the plea deal offered to Rogers would require her to serve
one year in jail, surrender her teaching license, and be listed on the sex offender
registry.

Sources said she initially rejected the offer, and that there has been little progress
since.

The mother of the 13 year-old Rogers is accused of having sex with said the focus and
attention on her family has been a strain, and she’s ready for it to come to an end.

“I wish they reached an agreement today. I want it to be over with. We don't want to
go to trial because of our son…don't want to put him through that. But something has
to be done,” Lisa Keaton said.

Keaton said she believes the plea offer made to Rogers is fair and said it would be
very hard for her or her family to accept anything less.

If the two sides don't reach an agreement, Rogers’ trial is scheduled for November.

Rogers has been living in Clarkrange, free on $50,000 bond.
