| August 04, 2005 Male Spanish Teacher Charged in Queens Rape “A Current Affair” isn’t reporting this one. It’s not on the front page of the New York Post either although the venue is Queens. Katie Couric isn’t interviewing Queens DA Richard Brown about the case. Maybe it’s because it’s not a Catholic school under the microscope, attorney John Aretakis and Albany County District Attorney David Soares aren’t pandering to the press in this case and it’s not a female teacher who has been arrested. A Benjamin N. Cardozo High School teacher has been charged with twice raping and sexually abusing a 16-year-old student at his Flushing residence six weeks ago. The Queens district attorney’s office has identified the defendant as Francisco Aguilar, 28, of 152-18 Union Turnpike. Aguilar has been charged with two counts of rape in the third degree, two counts of sexual misconduct, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree. If convicted, Aguilar faces up to four years in prison and would also have to register as a sex offender. According to the criminal charges, in two separate incidents that occurred on June 20 and June 24, Aguilar allegedly sexually abused and raped the victim at his residence. Aguilar was the student’s Spanish teacher at the Bayside high school. The incident came to light when the victim told a friend what had happened. The friend then told the girl’s parents who, in turn, notified police. Aguilar was arrested Wednesday by Detective Dan Howard of the NYPD Queens Special Victims Squad and was arraigned before Queens Criminal Court Judge William M. Harrington, who set bail in the amount of $10,000 cash. http://www.theempirejournal. com/0804058_Male_Spanish_Teacher_Charged_in_Queens_Rape.html Back To Guvment Skool Page 8 COPYRIGHT "DUHMAG.COM" 2005 |
