A Locust Fork High School social studies teacher and junior high football coach has been put on administrative leave with pay after being
charged with second-degree rape.

Donnie Joel McKay, 34, surrendered to authorities after being indicted by a St. Clair County grand jury. He was released after posting a
$10,000 bond.

McKay could enter a plea during a Nov. 28 arraignment, St. Clair County Assistant District Attorney Lamar Williamson said. His trial probably
will be in February.

McKay, who has been head coach of the Locust Fork junior high football team, was placed on administrative leave with pay after his arrest
Thursday.

Williamson said the indictment covers allegations of three incidents in the spring involving a girl younger than 16.

McKay is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and second-degree sexual abuse. Second-degree rape is when
someone older than 16 has consensual sex with someone 12 to 16, provided the offender is at least two years older than the victim.

If convicted, the felony charges could bring two to 20 years in prison.
