| August 9, 2005 Littleton teacher arrested for alleged sex assault on child LONE TREE - A well-known Littleton middle school teacher and coach was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexual assault. The Douglas County Sheriff's Department says that Mark Bliss sexually assaulted a child in a swimming pool at the Lone Tree Recreation Center a few days ago. Bliss was arrested Tuesday at the South Suburban Ice Rink, where he coaches power skating. He was later released after posting a $20,000 bond. The Littleton Public School District confirms Bliss teaches 6th grade at Isaac Newton Middle School at Arapahoe Road and Colorado Boulevard. The district tells us he specializes in social studies and language arts. He also has coached several sports for the school district - volleyball, basketball, track and wrestling. "The district will communicate with law enforcement to determine what our next steps will be," said school district spokeswoman Diane Leiker. "Littleton Public Schools does have policies in place to guide us through various personnel situations."
