| Mon, Aug. 01, 2005 Leland teacher pleads guilty EARL ROSKE TO RECEIVE TWO-YEAR, EIGHT-MONTH PRISON TERM By Dana Hull Mercury News Leland High School teacher Earl Roske pleaded guilty this afternoon to sex charges involving some of his students. Under a deal struck with prosecutors, the 41-year-old ex-chemistry instructor will receive a 2-year, eight-month prison term, plus three years probation for pleading guilty to six felony sex charges. The formal sentencing will occur Aug. 26. ``I'm happy with the resolution,'' said Deputy District Attorney Steve Fein. Several Leland High School students who attended the hearing refused to talk to reporters as they left the courtroom. Roske, who moved to San Jose from the state of Washington, began teaching chemistry at Leland in 1998. He was arrested May 6 after a lengthy police investigation allegedly turned up ample evidence that he had sexual relationships with at least three former students. Roske reportedly used a Web-cam to send sexually explicit images of himself to female students, had the students produce pornographic images of themselves and took sexually explicit photographs of the victims in his chemistry classroom. He is also accused of having intercourse with at least one of the students when she was a 17-year-old minor, but that was not one of the charges involved in the plea bargain. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/states/california/the_valley /12278197.htm?source=rss Back To Guvment Skool Page 8 COPYRIGHT "DUHMAG.COM" 2005 |
