The head football coach of Lake Howell High School in Seminole County was arrested Friday on suspicion he had sex with a student at the
school and snapped pornographic photos of her, Local 6 News has learned.
Earlier this week, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office was notified by Seminole County Public Schools of suspicious activity between Edward
Norton, 40, and a student at Lake Howell High School.
Investigators said school officials found evidence of a relationship with the girl on one of Norton's computers.
When authorities contacted the girl's mother, she said she believed there was an improper relationship between the two.
Detectives then searched Norton's home in Oviedo, Fla., and found 26 child pornography photos of the student, according to the report.
After the computers were seized, the student was questioned. The girl told police that she had a sexual relationship with Norton, Local 6 News
reported.
Norton is charged with 30 counts of unlawful sexual activity with certain minors, 26 counts of possession of child pornography, and 26 counts of
use of a child in a sexual performance.
He was transported to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Fla., where he is being held on $10,000 bond.
Norton has also been suspended from the school with pay as the investigation continues.
