| School Janitor Will Stand Trial For Murder Tue Jun 28, 4:45 PM ET A 28-year-old school janitor accused of taking part in a Valencia Park home invasion robbery that resulted in a fatal shooting was ordered Tuesday to stand trial for murder and other charges. Following testimony at a preliminary hearing, Judge Laura Hammes ruled there was sufficient evidence to order a trial for Raymond Lawrence Stephens, who also is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and two counts of assault. Authorities said Michael Ronquillo, 41, was fatally shot around 2:45 a.m. on April 1 when three men burst into an Imperial Avenue home that the victim was visiting. Two people at the home identified Stephens as one of the gunmen, prosecutor Lisa Weinreb said. Stephens, who worked at Florence Elementary School in Hillcrest, faces life in prison if convicted. His trial is scheduled to start Aug. 17. A co-defendant, 27-year-old Lucius Cowans, is also charged with murder in the case.
