Columbia, Md. (AP) - A Howard County teacher was arrested Saturday for stealing merchandise from the Lord And Taylor store at the Mall in
Columbia.

A police spokeswoman says 53-year-old Nadia Eliasson, a Mount Hebron High instructor, was charged with two counts of theft.

Sherry Llewellyn said store employees were monitoring surveillance cameras when they saw her put clothing into her purse.

She said they followed her out of the store and also reported that they believed she might have used a pair of scissors to cut the security tags off
of the clothing.

The merchandise is valued at $845. Eliasson faces one felony charge of theft over $500 and one misdemeanor charge of theft under $500.

The Ellicott City resident was released on her own recognizance.
