SKOWHEGAN, Maine -- A former teacher from West Gardiner will spend 18 months in prison for sexually abusing an eighth grade student.
A judge has also ordered Richard Greenleaf Jr. to undergo counseling and to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
Prosecutors dropped charges of stalking and trespassing in exchange for Greenleaf’s guilty plea.
They said Greenleaf began molesting the girl while she was attending Somerset Valley Middle School in Hartland.
“The Kennebec Journal” reported that the district attorney wanted to go to trial, but the victim did not want to testify.
