5-Year-Old Special Needs Student Left
At Busy Intersection
Aug 4, 2005

(RADCLIFF, Ky.) -- A mix-up at a Radcliff elementary school left a 5-year-old special
needs boy alone near a busy intersection Wednesday.

Staff members at Parkway Elementary School say Demetric Curry was wearing the
wrong name tag, which led to the confusion.

Demetric ended up in the wrong classroom after the school's morning assembly, and
was put on the wrong bus that afternoon.

The boy got off the bus near Valentine Drive and south Wilson Road, where he hid in
the bushes.

A woman eventually found Demetric and took him to the police station. He is now
back with his family.
