Republican = Fiscally Conservative: NOT!

A casual observation of the public debt of the United States reveals that a Republican-dominated
presidency and legislature is anything but conservative, or fiscally responsible.

According to the
Bureau of Public Debt, a government agency, the national debt approximately
eight months after President Clinton took office - September 1993 - was $4.4 trillion.  Eight years
later in September 2001, the public debt was $5.8 trillion.  The approximate increase, then, in the
national debt during Clinton's ENTIRE presidency was $1.4 trillion, or 32%.

September, 2001, was eight months after President Bush took office, and the public debt was $5.8
trillion.  Not quite four years later, on July 27, 2005, the public debt under Bush reached $5.8
trillion, approximately $2.07 trillion dollars more than in 2001 and a 35% increase.

Let's compare:  in four years the public debt under Republican President George Bush increased
MORE than the public debt under all eight years of DEMOCRAT President Bill Clinton.  Understand?
 It only took the public debt half the time under a Republican Administration to increase more than
under the previous DEMOCRAT administration.

In light of this simple observation, fiscal conservatism is definitely not characteristic of our
Republican-dominated presidency and legislature.  Why, again, did you vote Republican?
