| Outreach to the Pastors of Colorado: Does John MacArthur have Blood on his hands? by Jo Scott, Pro-life Nonviolent Alliance email: ToScotts@duhmag.com October 15, 2005 KRKS 94.7 FM, a Denver, Colorado Christian radio station, announced for two weeks that Pastor John MacArthur of the “Grace to You” radio program would be speaking at a "pastor appreciation" breakfast in Westminster, Colorado on Thursday, October 6, 2005. Ken Scott of Denver Bible Church recognized the opportunity for pro-lifers to reach area pastors with the message of abortion and call John MacArthur to accountability for his staunch stand against protesting tactics used by Christian pro lifers. Pastor MacArthur has gone as far as to say that picketing is sin. At daybreak, a small band of pro-lifers armed with fliers outlining how Pastor MacArthur has harmed the pro-life movement as well as graphic pictures of aborted babies and a banner emblazoned with the words “Blood on the hands of John MacArthur” greeted the pastors at the entrance to Westminster’s Westin Hotel on their way to the pastor appreciation breakfast. Keith Mason, Regional Coordinator of Operation Rescue, drove the truth truck back and forth in front of the Westin Hotel's parking lot until a parking space opened up right in front of the windows where the pastors met. With the truth truck strategically placed, Keith joined the other pro-lifers on the street. It was estimated that between 125 and 150 pastors attended the function. The hope was to convict the hearts of the pastors and get them actively involved in the pro-life movement. There was a contact number at the bottom of the flier, but there have been no phone calls. One young Christian woman said that she was offended by our pictures and also told us that she was in favor of abortion in cases where the children would not be raised properly. I wonder if she was raised properly? (Editor's note: If a child is sent to a government school, he isn't raised properly.) The first phase of the protest ended at about 8:45 a.m. when all the pastors funnelled into the hotel. The second phase began at 10:30 a.m. when the breakfast was over. All of the pastors who entered the hotel eventually had to pass the pro-life group on their way out of the hotel. For the most part, the pastors who took the time to stop and take fliers were cordial and mildly interested. None of them showed an interest in getting involved, unfortunately. Below are the contents of the flier: |

| Does John MacArthur have Blood on his hands? Pastor John MacArthur of Grace Fellowship at 13248 Roscoe Blvd., Sun Valley, CA 9135 has condemned Christian pro life protesters. 1. In the early 1990’s Pastor MacArthur supported the arrest of Christian non-violent protesters and said nothing about their abuse by the police throughout California. 2. 1991-- Summer of Mercy in Wichita, Kansas Pastor MacArthur was one of 4 nationally known pastors that condemned the peaceful, non-violent rescues held outside of George Tiller’s late term abortion mill. 3. Pastor MacArthur among others did their best to quash the momentum of the pro-life movement by calling a press conference to denounce to activities of over 20,000 people with Operation Rescue. 4. Pastor MacArthur along with others robbed the pro-life movement of not only their momentum but also their vision. He in effect dismantled the first line of defense for the unborn by causing division in the ranks. Many gentle Christians in the first generation of the pro-life ministry trusted pastor MacArthur and their zeal was undermined with his false doctrine. We are told in Proverbs 31:8 to rescue those unjustly lead to the slaughter. 5. Pro-lifers came together to protest outside of Grace Community Church in 1997 to call Pastor MacArthur to accountability. 35,000,000 children had suffered the horrible death of abortion by then and because of leadership of Pastor MacArthur and others Christians turned a blind eye. 6. Several weeks after the protest at his church pastor MacArthur did his radio show “Grace to You” about the protest at his church. Again he condemned the protesters as sinning using Romans 13. He said that we as Christians are to obey the rule of the government. He neglected to state that protesting is not against the law but a sacred right of all Americans. If you apply Pastor MacArthur’s reasoning to the slaughtering of the Jews in Germany, it would have been sin to protest against the holocaust. 7. Because of the radio show that condemned the pro-life protesters for the “sin” of protesting his church the pro lifers decided to protest again and confront the Pastor for misrepresenting the law and Scripture. 8. It is now October 6, 2005 and 50,000,000 children have been murdered by abortion, no law, no church decree, no Pastor’s condemnation has changed the fact that there are 4,300 children scheduled to die today in this country. Today there are gentle Christians standing their ground, (not gained without a cost) all throughout this country and because they are protesting at the killing places, children’s lives are saved, their parents come to salvation, and their lives are mended, not destroyed. 9. We are asking Pastor MacArthur to repent, and publicly announce that protesting is not sin. 10. We pray that all pastors would join the fight to protect the most innocent among us. 11. Pastors if you ignore the plight of the unborn, will their blood be on your hands also? God hates the hands that shed innocent blood. Prov. 6:17 |
